NRN Network
Newly Registered Nurse network
Created by NRNs for NRNs, we aim to add the unique perspective of the newly registered to the voice of nursing while providing peer-to-peer support and guidance at the beginning of the nursing journey.
Created by NRNs for NRNs, we aim to add the unique perspective of the newly registered to the voice of nursing, while providing peer-to-peer support and guidance at the beginning of your nursing journey.
We seek to support you in the last six months of your degree through to whenever you consider yourself no longer ‘newly registered’. This is normally through to the end of your preceptorship or around 18 months post-registration.
We are run by students and NRNs to create peer support, which some feel is lacking post-graduation.
The NRN Network is involved in developing and promoting RCN resources aimed at the newly registered, covering a range of issues from welfare, to financial support, to career development.
Our social media presence currently revolves around a Twitter account which reached over 1,000 followers in its first 24 hours, demonstrating the need for this voice to be heard both within the RCN and the wider nursing profession. From the account we discuss issues close to the hearts of NRNs, provide advice, and signpost to useful resources. We also run Tweetchats on NRN issues to work out how we could help. As part of the RCN Students webinar series we have also run a Transitioning to NRN webinar, which hosted eminent academics in supporting NRNs and proved to be incredibly popular. We are planning more Tweetchats and webinars on useful topics such as preceptorships, how to apply for your first job, and how to manage time effectively.

RCNNRN has a working group committee to help the network, and the RCN, achieve our aims of providing peer-to-peer support for newly registered nurses - ensuring their voice is heard.
